The word 'orthodontics' arises from the Greek word orthos, which means proper or straight and odons, which means teeth. This dental specialty is mostly about analyzing and treating tooth misalignment and irregularities within the jaw area.
A bad bite can turn into a major concern if left untreated. It can make it harder for you to chew some foods and cause muscle tension and pain. Some of the benefits that you get with earlier orthodontic treatment are:
First, the orthodontist will insert a tool to
keep your mouth and tongue dry. Then he or she
will dry your teeth and spread an etchant to
create the tooth surface ideal for bonding. After
that, they will place the braces using a special
adhesive to hold them in position throughout your
treatment.
Earlier, orthodontic treatment was taken into account in teens and pre-teens. At present, around 30 percent of them are suffering from orthodontics.
Although the treatment works at any age, the American Dental Association believes people should have an orthodontic assessment at the age of seven.
Make sure to bring your kids for the orthodontic assessment. If they are diagnosed with that, we can start the treatment soon.
Some treatments may take a couple of months,
while others may take several years. It
completely depends on the complexity of your
orthodontic needs. However, the treatment
takes between 12 and 36 months.
